Get ready to be swept away by the enchanting melodies and powerful performances at the Downriver Community Band's highly anticipated spring concert on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 7:00 PM. The Trenton Village Theater, located at 2447 W Jefferson Ave, Trenton, MI, will serve as the stage for this musical journey. The theme for this year's concert is "To The Summit," an exploration of the inspirational narratives that accompany the triumph over challenges to achieve our dreams and goals.
The repertoire promises to captivate the audience, featuring iconic pieces such as the Theme from The Great Escape, the dynamic themes from the video game CupHead, the Broadway sensation Rocky, and the exhilarating John Williams' Call of the Champions, premiered at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. A special highlight of the evening will be Madelyn Updike's performance on Double Bass, presenting Capuzzi's double bass concerto (1st mov.) with the band providing accompaniment. Madelyn, a senior at the University of Liggett, is sure to leave a lasting impression with her musical talents.
During intermission, Girl Scouts Cookies and water will be available for sale. The concert's host, Downriver celebrity Ted Budkin, renowned for his light-hearted and humorous narrations, guarantees an evening filled with fun and entertainment.
